A Simulation Research Network based at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

WHAT IS macGRID?

macGRID is a robust, archivable, simulation research platform and a corresponding network of academic, industry and community partners who wish to engage in multidisciplinary research and creation, and resource and knowledge sharing, using avatar virtual worlds and mixed reality systems (currently with OpenSim). Based at McMaster University, this team of international researchers is working together to advance simulation research.

macGRID is made possible through support from the following organizations

The macGRID network is comprised of two components

macGRID is uniting researchers from around the world

macGRID is a research network and platform that allows concurrent collaborative research and interaction in a virtual space. Uses range from demonstrations of proposed physical developments, archives of since lost historical buildings and artifacts, or studies on avatar interaction in virtual space.

macGRID is an online collaborative space

macGRID also hosts an online collaboration space for simulation researchers. Here, researchers from around the world can share insights, and find partners that align well with their own research interests or goals.

The community is made up of not only simulation researchers, but of graphic designers, computer engineers, programmers, communications specialists, and psychologists.

IN CASE YOU NEED HELP

Join macGRID?

macGRID is currently a privately managed research initiative based at McMaster University and led by Director of Research, Dr. David Harris Smith. Inquiries about joining the macGRID.ca online community and the macGRID OpenSIM world must be directed to Dr. Smith at dhsmith @ mcmaster.ca.

Need Support?

The macGRID Knowledge Base is a user supported wiki to help answer any questions concerning use of the macGRID OpenSIM world. We encourage members to contribute knowledge and to use knowledge whenever possible.

Check Forum

We encourage all macGRID members to join the open macGRID Forum to discuss all things macGRID and help our online community grow and reach maximum potential!
